Wow, so it's been a while since I wrote anything in here. Like, a really really really long while :(
I can't even say that school's been hectic; it was way back in December when I had 30 pages to write for finals, but now...all I have to worry about is how not to freeze while going from class to class - or the East Bank to the West Bank.
I've made a lot of interesting recipes, some I'll have to upload soon because they were really yummy. Especially the LOST and Doctor Who theme cakes; one had the DHARMA Swan symbol and the other was a TARDIS, complete with blue frosting and a light-up sonic screwdriver!
I've been trying to figure out my plans on studying abroad in the fall, and I have it narrowed down to three places which I'll list in the order that I really want to go: Rome, Italy (obviously); Montpellier, France (ah, the French); and Glasgow, Scotland (maybe for nothing else than I love Scottish accents and want to see if I can come home with a tiny accent myself). So I have a meeting with an advisor on Thursday and...we'll see what happens!
I've also seen some pretty interesting movies. The most recent that I saw was The Rite, that creepy-possession movie 'based off' - or 'suggested by' as most of it was completely unlike - a book by the same name. It starred Anthony Hopkins, a creepy guy all by himself but even creepier in this movie, and a few other actors whose names I don't know. Hmm. Anyway, the only bits of the book that were adhered to in the movie were that a young priest goes to Rome to learn how to perform excorcisms and is 'taught' by another priest. The rest of it is totally different, as character's genders and nationalities are switched around, and...well, I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it.
I'll just say that it's creepy enough that after the movie, when my friend's car got stuck in a snowbank/ditch at the end of her long, steep driveway surrounded by woods in the middle of nowhere, we were a little unnerved and had to sing "Let it Be" while we walked up to her house.
So that's pretty much an update. I'm trying to find (cough) new and creative (cough) ways to raise the 20k to go to Rome for a semester. I'm going to a study abroad pizza party today to talk about study abroad options. And after fencing tonight, the fencing club is having a pancake breakfast/dinner party in one of the resident halls.
Speaking of fencing...I got roped into going to Northwestern University to compete for a weekend. I've never been to Illinois, and I hope it's not all as full of cornfields and bleak landscapes as I imagine when I hear the state's name. Chicago would be fun to visit though.
